Notes:
Activate/deactivate at the MKW Main Menu. If you activated/deactivated anywhere else in game, you must back out to the Main Menu and re-enter for changes to take effect.

If you have your Wii Remote Vibration disbabled through the Wii Remote Settings and you turn it on (or turn if off then back on), the code will no longer be a 'constant vibration' code. The code will simply act/de-act the Wii Remote Vibration setting (as if you were turning if off/on within the Wii Remote settings).

Configure flag & globe location from 'scratch'

Configure flag & globe location from 'scratch'

NOTE: This is outdated by a code I made to accomplish this. Link to code - https://mkwii.com/showthread.php?tid=1082

Introduction:
To set your flag and globe location legitimately, you access the 'Your Region' settings within MKW. This brings you to a hidden menu within the Wii's System Menu. You then connect to to the Nintendo Update Servers (which has the stored Hex values for all Globe locations). Once you select a 'region residence' within your country, the globe location hex string (along with the one byte region residence code, which is always 01 or higher) is added to your SYSCONF file within NAND. When MKW is booted, it reads the hex code of your Country, Region Residence within Country, and Globe Location. If Region Residence hex value is 00, then MKW will not set your flag w/ globe location no matter what.

The issue here is the Nintendo Update Servers. Once these go away and you change your country code (thru ARC or Wii Settings), then you lose your stored hex values and have no way of getting your flag to work again. However, since we know where these values are stored, and we have the tools to edit them, we can get our flag/location settings working without using the Nintendo Servers.

You will need a Hex Editor... (HxD is used in this Guide)

NOTE: If you are on Windows, I recommend HxD. You can find HxD (via free download) on a google search very quickly. For Linux, I recommend using HxD via Wine emulation.

You will also need my AppPack - Add me on discord (vega8365).

Unzip the AppPack.zip file. Add the contents within the main AppPack folder to a blank SD card. SD card into Wii, launch HBC.

Launch the FS ToolBox app. FS ToolBox will list some items that are patched and not patched. You will then see a menu giving you some tips on how to dump/extract files, etc. Press A button to continue. A small warning will flash for a few seconds then a list of directories will appear.

Navigate down to shared2 and press A. A new list of directories will apear. Navigate to sys and press A. Navigate to the SYSCONF file. Press the minus (-) button. SYSCONF file will be dumped onto the SD card. Press the Home button to exit back to HBC. Power off the Wii.

Insert SD card back into your computer. The SD card will have a newly created folder called FSTOOLBOX. Launch your hex editor. Open the SYSCONF file (browse to your SD card, then FSTOOLBOX, shared2 folder, then sys folder).

Press CTRL+F on your keyboard to begin a search. Enter in the string - "52 10 07". Change datatype to Hex then start the search. The very first byte after your highlighted hex string is your country code. Change it to any desired value.

The very next byte after the country code is the Region Residence code. This can be anything other than 00. I simply just set the value to 01.

Press CTRL+F again. Enter in this string - "A5 49 50", run the search. The first 4 bytes before the highlighted hex string is the value for the Globe Position. This will be 00 00 00 00 if you currently don't have your flag set. Change this to a desired value. Save the file and exit.

If you used HxD, the original file will be backed up as SYSCONF.bak next to the SYSCONF file. Move it out of the SD card to a spot on your computer for backup if desired.

SD card back into Wii. Relaunch HBC, relaunch FSToolbox.

Navigate back to to the SYSCONF file the same way you did earlier but this time press the plus (+) button on the SYSCONF file. New SYSCONF file will replace the old one. Press the Home Button to exit back to HBC. Launch MKW, go online, and check out the results! Congratz! You can delete the FSTOOLBOX folder from the SD card if desired.

  Restore/Inject a NAND Backup
Posted by: Vega - 04-06-2018, 07:37 PM - Forum: HBC & General Wii Softmodding - No Replies

Restore/Inject a NAND Backup

This guide will use the RestoreMii feature within Bootmii. Therefore, you must have Bootmii installed. It is recommended to only preform the guide if you have Bootmii installed as Boot2. If not (Bootmii installed as IOS), and you install a corrupted NAND (with no Priiloader within said NAND), then you will be bricked forever.

If you are using this guide to repair a brick and you have Bootmii as an IOS, chances are you can fix your issue without injecting a backed up NAND file. Access HBC from Priiloader and first attempt to fix of what actually broke your Wii before resorting to a NAND injection.

Requirements:
Bootmii
Priiloader (to boot bricked Wii and then to get to Bootmii IOS if you dont have Bootmii boot2 installed)
GCN controller (only needed if you have Bootmii IOS)
A backup copy of your bootmii folder
A backup copy of your nand.bin file

WARNING!!!: Wiis that do NOT have GCN ports CANNOT restore a NAND in Bootmii NO MATTER WHAT. This is because in order to restore a NAND with Bootmii as IOS, you are forced to use the 'Konami' code which can ONLY be done with a GCN controller. All Wiis without GCN Ports can only install Bootmii as an IOS as they are manufactured after Nintendo repaired the boot1 which blocked boot2 from being installed.

Grab an SD card and do a full format on it to FAT32 (this is needed to ensure any corrupted data is wiped so NAND backup doesn't get corrupted as well when added to SD card)

Add your bootmii folder and nand.bin to the blank SD card. SD into Wii.

Bootmii installed as Boot2: Simply power on Wii, Wii will launch Bootmii Smile
Bootmii installed as an IOS: Launch Priiloader, select Bootmii IOS. You can also get on HBC and press the Home button and select Launch Bootmii, but if you can reach HBC w/o Priiloader, then you can easily fix any Wii issues without a NAND injection.

To navigate thru Bootmii you must use the console keys, or you can plug in a GCN if you have one (needed no matter what if you have Bootmii as IOS)

CONSOLE NAVIGATION BUTTON KEYS: Power = Right, Eject = Left, Reset = Select

Using the console buttons, press Power, Power, Power, Reset, Power, Reset. BootMii Recovery will display a screen saying that RestoreMii will run in simulation mode. Press Reset to continue.

Simulation will start, random green squares will partially fill the gray grid. Once that is done, you will be prompted to press Eject to begin the NAND restore or press any other button to abort and exit.

**Bootmii as IOS users will receive a warning that restoring the NAND backup is too dangerous and to exit. If you are really sure you want to proceed you will need to enter the Konami code. Press these buttons in this exact order on your GCN: Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A-Start.. If you mess up entering the Konami code, you will be booted from RestoreMii and have to attempt to enter the code again.**

Press Eject, RestoreMii will begin. Once done, you will see the message 'I HAZ SUCCESS!”. Now you can press any button to exit. To exit Bootmii to the Wii Main Menu, press Power, Power, Reset, Reset.

Congratz, you have restored your NAND!

Activate 'Special MKW Regions' when using ISO/WBFS (classic method)
Posted by: Vega - 04-06-2018, 06:58 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

This is a simple tutorial for activating the Australia/NZ or Taiwan Region via the 'classic method'. This method was done before Anarion made & released his Any Region Changer code.

For Australia/NZ – Use PAL ISO/WBFS. Set country code to 65 (Australia) or 95 (New Zealand) in the Any Region Changer app or Any Region Changer within WiiMod Advanced Menu.
For Taiwan – Use NTSC-J ISO/WBFS. Set country code to 128 in the Any Region Changer App or Any Region Changer within WiiMod.
If done correctly, you will be asked to create a new save file.

**Getting country flag to appear**
Many ISO/WBFS users have issues getting their country flag to appear. This is because you need to have the Region Residence set within said Country in the 'Your Region' Settings of MKW. Many people then try to access the 'Your Region Settings' from their ISO/WBFS and it fails. This is because you can ONLY access the  'Your Region' Settings in the ISO/WBFS that matches the system menu region of your Wii. For example, if you have a Japanese system menu, you need access My Region settings from the Japan ISO/WBFS.

- Make sure your Wii has a working Internet Connection
- Launch the ISO/WBFS that matches your System Menu Region
- Go to Your Region Settings
- You will be brought to a hidden part of the Wii System Menu, click the Choose Settings button on the bottom right
- Wii will connect to internet.
- Select the town/state/province that you desire.
- Click the OK button on the bottom left. Wii will reboot.
- In the ISO/WBFS you plan on playing with, go to Region Profile and set the Flag/Region to Display.
- Connect to Wifi, you will see the flag now. (Please note that some countries don't have flags, such as Taiwan. The Your Region settings will still take effect, you will not be set to the default geo-location given to you by the MKWii region ID.)

Congratz!

  Region Change Wii
Posted by: Vega - 04-06-2018, 02:33 PM - Forum: HBC & General Wii Softmodding - No Replies

How to Region Change your Wii

The 'region' of a Wii is simply the language/html version of the System Menu. There are four official system menus - American, PAL, Japanese, and Korean. Changing your system menu to something such as Korean would render American (NTSC-U) discs from loading thru the disc channel. Keep that in mind before region changing the Wii. USB Loaders bypass this issue so ISO/WBFS users don't have this concern.

Requirements:
Have completed the Softmod Guide - HERE

It is absolutely critical that you have completed the exact Softmod Guide linked above. If you try this guide without following that exact guide, you WILL brick. You have been warned!!! If you try this guide after following some other softmod guide, you WILL brick. You have been warned!!!

Since you have completed my Softmod Guide, you will either be on system menu versions 4.1/4.2/4.3. If you are on 4.2/4.3, after this Guide, you will be downgraded to 4.1 (which is the best version of the Wii System Menu)

Let's begin..

You will need the Sofmod-WiiMod package. Add me on discord (vega8365).

Extract/unzip the download. There will be two items (apps folder and wads folder). Move those two items to a blank SD card.

SD card into Wii, boot Wii and launch HBC. Launch the Wiimod app.

-Use the D-Pad on your Wii remote to scroll down to Wad Manager.

-Press A on Wad Manager.

-Select the directory "System Menu-4.1X-vYYY" -press A

American Menu, X = U, YYY = 449
PAL Menu, X = E, YYY = 450
Japanese Menu, X = J, YYY = 448
Korean Menu, X = K, YYY = 454

-Press (1) to select 3 wads for installation - Press A to proceed.
-3 wads should install without error.
-Press any button to continue

Press the B button again and again until you are back to WiiMod's Main Menu.

NOTE: If by accident you exited back to HBC, do NOT exit out of HBC (you will brick), simply enter back into WiiMod.

You will now notice that the top title bar on the Wii Mod Main Menu will be red instead of blue. Also, the option Advanced Menu will be in red font.

Scroll down to Advanced Menu and press A. WiiMod will ask if you are sure you want to continue. Press A for Yes.

Two items will now be listed. Region Changer (in Red font), and Any Title Manager.
Click A on Region Changer.

A prompt about brick information will appear, simply press any button to continue.

You will see this message highlighted in red - "WARNING: AREA/SysMenu MISMATCH!"
This means you’re semi-bricked- which we are going to fix.

Navigate down to Preset and click left/right to select the proper region to match the system menu region you installed. Click on Load Preset. You will now see a message in green that says “You have unsaved settings you need to save

Now click Save Settings at the very bottom.

If done correctly, the Wiimod v3.2 text at the very top will now be highlighted in Blue.

Finally, click the Home button to exit to HBC. You should now be at the Homebrew Channel

Final Step

Don't Skip This!

Since you have followed the Softmod Guide before, you should know how to install Priiloader and enable certain System Menu Hacks. Whenever you region change the Wii, Priiloader gets uninstalled.

Re-install Priiloader and enable the System Menu Hacks that suit you. Refer back to the Softmod Guide for assistance if needed.

Congratz!
